ABOUT DANIEL

I grew up in rural Texas, the son of a pastor. I was always terrified of death and often didn’t want to go to sleep at night for fear of not waking up the next morning. When I was 11, I shared this fear with my mom, and she led me to put my faith in Jesus for the forgiveness of my sins and the gift of eternal life. We moved to California City when I was 12 and God brought an amazing youth pastor to our little church. He really challenged me to read and learn the Bible for myself. When I graduated from high school, I went on a mission trip to the Philippines and God convicted me of my selfish ambitions and convinced me to live my life in pursuit of His kingdom, rather than my own glory. From that point forward I wanted to be in full time ministry, but God had a long path for me to take to get there.

Long story short, I got my bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Fresno State where I met my wife, Kate. I got a job at Scaled Composites in Mojave in 2011 and worked there until 2016. God opened the door for me to quit my job and move to Louisville, KY to attend The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I graduated in 2020 with my M.Div. in Biblical and Theological Studies. Upon graduation, we bought and renovated a motorhome and drove around the country with our four children, Hannah, Kasha, Isaiah, and Abigail. We visited pastors of small churches and ministered to their needs. About 6 months later I got a call from COBC asking if I would be interested in applying for a pastor position. This was a dream come true, and I am so grateful to God for bringing me back home and letting me serve Him and his people full time.
